Terms of Service
Last updated: July 16, 2026
1. Acceptance & Eligibility
By creating an account or using Halo (haloadmit.com), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Halo. If you are under 18, you may use Halo only with the permission of a parent or guardian, and by using Halo you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. Parents and guardians who allow a minor to use Halo are responsible for the minor’s use and agree to these Terms for themselves and the minor.
2. The Service
Halo is an AI-powered college application workspace and essay-coaching platform. We provide tools to help you plan your applications and write, analyze, and improve your essays. Our feedback and scores are generated by AI and are guidance to help you improve — not predictions or guarantees of any admission outcome.
3. Accounts
- Provide accurate information when you create your account
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account
- One account per person; don’t share your credentials
- Tell us promptly at hello@haloadmit.com if you suspect unauthorized use
4. Your Content & Ownership
You retain full ownership of the essays and other content you create on Halo. You grant us a limited license to store and process your content — including sending it to our AI providers — solely to provide and improve the service for you. We do not claim ownership of your work and will never publish, sell, or share your essays for advertising or marketing.
5. Academic Integrity & Honest Use
Halo is a coaching and feedback tool meant to help you develop your own authentic work. It is not a service for writing your application for you.
- You are solely responsible for ensuring everything you submit in your applications is truthful and genuinely your own work, in your own voice, reflecting your real experiences.
- You must comply with the rules of every college, university, and application platform you use (such as the Common Application), including their policies on authorship, originality, and permitted outside assistance.
- Where Halo offers drafting suggestions, you are responsible for reviewing, revising, and ensuring the final submitted work is your own.
- Do not use Halo to misrepresent your identity, experiences, or authorship.
You are responsible for how you use Halo’s output in your applications and for any consequences of misuse.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Halo for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract our prompts, models, or source code
- Resell, sublicense, or provide the service to third parties
- Upload content that infringes others’ intellectual property or privacy
- Interfere with, overload, or attempt to bypass the security or usage limits of the service
7. Subscriptions, Billing & Automatic Renewal
Halo offers a free tier and paid plans. Current prices and plan details are shown at checkout.
- Free tier: a limited number of free essay analyses.
- Monthly subscription: billed monthly and automatically renews each month until you cancel.
- Season Pass: a one-time purchase covering the application season; it does not automatically renew.
- Tools Pass: a one-time purchase that unlocks Halo’s workspace tools for the season; it does not automatically renew.
Automatic renewal. For the monthly subscription, you authorize us, through our payment processor Stripe, to charge your payment method the then-current fee (plus any applicable taxes) at the start of each billing period, automatically, until you cancel. We will give you advance notice of any price change.
How to cancel. You can cancel anytime from your account Settings, or by emailing hello@haloadmit.com. Cancellation stops future renewals; your paid access continues through the end of the period you have already paid for.
If a payment fails, you have a short grace period (currently 3 days) before access is downgraded to the free tier.
8. Refunds & Cancellation
- Monthly subscription: cancel anytime to stop future charges. Fees already paid for the current period are generally non-refundable, though you keep access through the end of that period.
- Season Pass: refunds are governed by our Season Pass refund policy.
- Because AI analyses incur real per-use costs, fees for analyses you have already used are non-refundable.
- We will of course correct genuine billing errors — contact us and we’ll make it right.
Nothing here limits any non-waivable refund or cancellation rights you may have under applicable law.
9. Referrals & Credits
We may offer referral links, promotional credits, or free analyses. These have no cash value, cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash, and may be limited, changed, or revoked — including where we reasonably believe they are being obtained through fake accounts, self-referrals, or other abuse.
10. AI Disclaimer
Halo uses AI to generate feedback, scores, and suggestions. AI output may be incomplete or inaccurate. Scores and suggestions are tools to help you improve your writing — not predictions of, or guarantees about, any admission decision. You are ultimately responsible for the content you submit in your applications.
11. No Affiliation with Colleges
Halo is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise associated with any college, university, the Common Application, or any testing or admissions organization. School and organization names and logos are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and reference only.
12. Third-Party Services
Halo relies on third-party providers (for example Stripe, Anthropic, OpenAI, Cohere, Supabase, Vercel, Resend, PostHog, Sentry, and Google). Your use of those features may also be subject to those providers’ terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
13. Disclaimers
Halo is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will lead to any particular result, including any admission outcome.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Halo and Fruitful LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, data, or admission outcomes, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Halo and Fruitful LLC from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of others, including the rules of any college or application platform.
16. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or misuse the service. Upon termination, your data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
17. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law
Before filing any formal claim, please contact us at hello@haloadmit.com so we can try to resolve it. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts.
18. Text Message (SMS) Program
If you book a call with us through haloadmit.com and provide your phone number, you may opt in to receive text (SMS) messages from Halo (Fruitful LLC) about that booking — a confirmation and up to two reminders (about one hour and fifteen minutes before your scheduled call).
- Consent. By entering your phone number and submitting the booking form, you agree to receive these text messages. Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
- Message frequency. Message frequency varies based on your booking — typically no more than three messages per booking.
- Rates. Message and data rates may apply.
- Opt out. Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe, or HELP for help. You can also contact us at hello@haloadmit.com.
- Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We do not share your mobile number or SMS opt-in and consent data with third parties for marketing. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle this information.
19. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or a notice on the site. Your continued use of Halo after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
